+ Can this baby gate be used at the bottom of the stairs?

Yes, it can. It can also be used in an opening or doorway, but as it is a pressure mount baby gate, it cannot be used at the top of the stairs.

+ What is the width range for this gate?

The Auto-Close gate expands to cover an opening 29.3”-36.8” when using the two provided extensions. If you need to cover a wider distance, you can purchase 2 additional sets of Auto-Close SafeGate Extensions for 6 total, and a span of up to 47.8”.

+ Will the Auto-Close SafeGate work with the baseboard that I have in my hallway?

Yes, the bottom spindles can be adjusted independently of the top spindles, so by making the bottom spindles shorter this will in most cases accommodate the thickness of the baseboard. In some situations, even with the gate centered in the opening, the space between the gate and the wall ends up being more than 2.5”. In those situations, it’s necessary to add an extension.

+ I have a round banister at the bottom of my stairs. Can I use the Auto-Close SafeGate?

Yes, but you will need our Universal Stair Mounting Kit to create a flat surface to mount the gate to.

+ Why does the gate have six spindles?

The Auto-Close SafeGate comes with four round spindles and two QRF™ (Quarter Round Friendly) spindles. The QRF™ spindles allow a perfect installation over quarter round molding, which is not possible with standard round spindle heads.
